I have a few neck stem packs, can they be charged or does the BMS need to go through the board?

If you are talking about the batteries from the sj2.5 model;

They can be charged through either the xt60(albeit without balance charging) or the thinner gauge wires with connector.

Charging through the thinner gauge wires is ideal , as it charges through the bms which attempts to balance the voltage evenly for each cell bank in the series. Don't charge faster than 4.5a and don't attempt to draw current from the bms charge wires (small voltage readout screen should be ok)
