Not if it is a real OEM dash.

Yes you will need to flash them. They may come activated but you still need to flash to get things just right. You will need to modify the serial number and what not, that will get the led lights setting in the app to show up as well as activate other settings based on serial number. You'll need to flash the bms's to get rid of rental firmware too.

For a SPIN ES2 you don't need a new dashboard or control board. You can first flash the dashboard via soldering 4 points. Then you can flash control board via Windows or Android. But since you have a new dashboard coming, you can hook it up and then flash the existing control board. Flashing the existing control board is much easier than trying to physically replace it.

You actually can’t flash the spin dashboards on the newer spin scooter with the pentagon screws on the head. When you try to flash with a st link you get ocd bouncer

Damn, wasn't aware of that. I wonder what they changed on the board?

It really does suck. It’s an extra 45$ we now have to spend for an oem dashboard. Unless you want a clone and flash it with oem firmware.

Is Spin the only company with unflashable dashboards at this point? And is there a thread where there's more discussion about the unflashable dashboards and attempted workarounds?

Thanks in advance

Koolkidcharles, I just flashed two Spin ES4s for friends that scored at an auction this weekend. Both had the pentagon screws, but both dashboard's flashed fine and are working without issues. I did get the ocd_bouncer on the first one at one point, but I checked the connections and redid one of the points and it worked just fine. I suggest you try flashing whatever dash was giving the error, because it doesn't seem like they have any changes that would prevent flashing, unless there are multiple dashboards on the Spin ES4s with pentagon screws?
