Store the power! Electric scooter battery and charging discussions go here.
#58327
Hi all, I have two M365 scooters in Spain that I use when I go there on holiday.
My brother in law there allegedly uses each in turn to keep the batteries used and cycled, but each year I go I have to buy a new battery as some cells have gone down past their recovery point.
I have one of the failed batteries at home and am familiar with cell welding with nickel tabs etc so can repair the failed battery and take it in the car with me this summer.
However, another has gone down and I don't fancy repairing that battery on holidays so the obvious question is: How do I stop degeneration of cells when stored long term ie. a year?

I had read that because the BMS uses some current, it's advisable to cut through the clear plastic cover and pull off the BMS multiplug to make the battery completely isolated after charging to around 60%.
I have RC plane charging equipment that will handle 10s and I don't mind taking that with me if necessary, but don't fancy welding tabs on cells etc on holiday.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA
